MN Twins 3B Miguel Sano to miss 2-Months after foot surgery | KFAN

It's been a frustrating off season for Minnesota Twins third baseman Miguel Sano. A seemingly innocent cut to his foot had been wearing a protective boot over his right foot during the first few weeks of Spring Training after suffering a cut to his foot celebrating a winter league championship in the Dominican Republic.

Initially Sano was expected to miss one week of Spring Training but according to the Star Tribune's report from Twins head Trainer Tony Leo, "an aggressive intervention" was needed and Sano had surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

According to Leo the wound has been cleaned and sutures have been added to aid in the recovery which is expected to last one week before returning to the walking boot for an additional three weeks. At that point they hope he'll be cleared for baseball activities.

"He's out of the picture right now for Opening Day," Twins Chief Baseball Officer Derek Falvey told the press today.

According to Falvey, Sano's debut may not come until early May.
