Former Teammate: 'I Was Shocked Kevin Durant Left Golden State Warriors'

Colin Cowherd: “Were you shocked when Kevin Durant left Golden State?"
David West: “I was. He was in a position to really cement himself and get into that ‘Legend with the Warriors’ type class. I still think he’ll have a great legacy with the Warriors but I thought it was the one place he might just say ‘You know what, I think I’m cool here.’ I thought he loved the city and I thought he loved the people.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to former NBA All-Star and Finals Champion David West explain why he was taken back when he first learned of the news that two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant was leaving the Golden State Warriors dynasty to team up with a maligned Kyrie Irving on a 42-win Brooklyn Nets team.

West was a two-time All-Star who at one point was one of the best power forwards in the league during his stint with the New Orleans Hornets from 2003-2011. He spent two seasons with the Warriors at the age of 36 and 37 before retiring from the NBA after Golden State’s last championship in 2018.

Check out the video above as West explains to Colin Cowherd why he couldn’t have possibly pictured Durant leaving a place like Golden State, that not only boasted one of the most loving fan bases in the NBA, but a franchise that was going to offer Durant the opportunity to become one of the winningest players in league history on an indelible dynasty.
