LSU running backs coach Kevin Faulk has stepped away from the team amid the recent death of his 19-year old daughter.

On Monday (September 14), LSU Football's verified Twitter account announced the death of Kevione Faulk, who worked as a student staff member within the program.

"We are heartbroken with the passing of Kevione Faulk, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Faulk family and all of those who love Kevione," LSU football wrote in an official statement shared on Monday (September 13) via Twitter. "She was a part of the LSU Family, and we mourn the loss of a daughter, a sister, a friend, a classmate and a colleague. We ask that all Tigers keep the Faulks in their prayers and respect their privacy at this difficult time."

LSU coach Ed Orgeron, who had previously statement in response to Kevione Faulk's death on Monday, said Coach Faulk wasn't expected to participate in the Tigers' game against Central Michigan on Saturday (September 18), adding that the team is "sick to their stomach" over news of the 19-year-old's passing.

"I don't expect him to be here on Saturday," Orgeron said on Wednesday (September 15) via ESPN. "I expect him to take his time and put his family first."

Kevione's cause of death has not been released as of Wednesday.

Kevin Faulk finished his collegiate career with 4,557 rushing yards and 50 total touchdowns, including 46 rushing scores -- all LSU records -- as well as 5,157 total yards from scrimmage.

Faulk, who was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2015, was a first-team All-American in 1996, a three-time All-SEC running back (1996-98) and the SEC Freshman of the Year in 1995 during his collegiate career.

Faulk was selected by the New England Patriots at No. 46 overall in the 1999 NFL Draft and spent his entire 13-year NFL career with the franchise, winning three Super Bowls (XXXVI, XXXVIII and XXXIX).

The former running back was named to the Patriots' 50th Anniversary Team in 2009 and elected to the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2016.

Faulk began his coaching career as an offensive coordinator at Carencro High School in Louisiana (2013-17) before initially joining Oregon's staff as director of player development in 2018 and being promoted to running backs coach in 2020.
