Every state has certain areas labeled as safe and other areas marked as dangerous, but those vary as crime rates are constantly changing.

To find some of the safest cities in Minnesota, SafeWise reviewed data to determine which areas were the safest for Minnesotans.

According to the report, in a State of Safety survey, 33% of Minnesota residents were less likely to worry about their safety on a day-to-day basis compared to most of the U.S., where 47% of Americans said they worry about their safety daily.

"While daily levels of high concern went down, survey participants noted an increase in personal experiences with violent crime and gun violence in the last 12 months. Meanwhile, the state also saw a decrease in personal experiences with property crime. All of Minnesota's 20 safest cities reported violent crime and property crime rates well below the state average."

The report does say that Minnesota's crime rate has increased, but of all 50 states, Minnesota has the 12th lowest violent crime rate and the 25th lowest property crime rate.

To determine the safest cities in Minnesota, SafeWise reviewed the 2019 FBI crime report statistics and population data.

According to the report, here are the top 10 safest cities in Minnesota:

  1. Elko New Market
  2. Corcoran

  4. West Hennepin
