As the last day of the Minnesota State Fair was coming to a close, it ended with a disturbance at the main gate.

Roy Magnuson, a spokesman for Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, said a large crowd tried to rush the fair's main gate around 8 p.m. on Monday night (September 6), KARE 11 reported. Magnuson also mentioned that among the crowd was a man with a gun.

A Ramsey County judge recently ruled that permit holders were not allowed to carry their guns inside the state fair.

The incident happened as fairgoers were trying to exit the gates. So, in an attempt to stop the crowd from entering, security and Ramsey County Sheriff's deputies decided to use chemical agents to try and make the group scatter.

Steve Linders, a spokesman for St. Paul Police, said the sheriff's office requested help with crowd control. The police department sent five squads to the fairgrounds. They arrived after 8 p.m. and stayed until 11 p.m. to help with crowd control.

It is still unclear why the crowd decided to storm the gates on the fair's last day. Authorities also did not mention if there were any arrests or injuries related to the incident.
