Uber Passengers Terrified As Driver Chases Down Car That Rear-Ended Him

A couple from Richmond, Virginia, was terrified when their Uber driver tried to chase down a car that rear-ended him. John Murray and Tameka Swann live-streamed the "nightmare" cab ride on Facebook from the backseat.

The wild ride started shortly after they were picked up from their home. Another car rear-ended them and refused to pull over.

"Our Uber attempted to pull over so that they exchange information, but the car didn't stop behind us. They went around us and sped off, and that's when our Uber sped off behind him," Swann told WTVR.

The driver called 911 as he chased after the other car. Murray, Swann, and the 911 dispatcher asked him to pull over, but he refused.

"The driver won't let us out, he's trying to catch the guy because he hit us," Swann said.

The driver ran multiple red lights and caused an accident when an SUV hit the side of his vehicle.

"We made it through so many lights without getting hit, and then finally, we went through another light," said Swann.

The crash did not deter the driver, who narrowly missed hitting a bicyclist as he sped away.

He eventually pulled over and was met by a police officer.

"That was the scariest moment of my life," Swann said. "I have never been that scared in my life. It was a nightmare."

The couple suffered minor bruises and were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Richmond police said they are investigating the incident. They have not announced whether the driver is facing charges, or if they have identified the suspect who rear-ended him.

Uber said they have suspended the driver while they investigate the incident.

"This driver's behavior is concerning, and we have removed his access to the app pending an investigation," said an Uber spokeswoman.
