D23 Expo Gives Disney Fans Sneak Peek at "Star Wars" Land

Disney lovers rejoice! The biggest Disney convention in the world is currently underway this weekend in Anaheim giving fans an early look at what the new "Star Wars" land might look like.

Held every two years, the D23 Expo attracts Disney fans from all over the world with exclusive previews of upcoming films, presentations and upcoming attractions at the parks.

One major draw for fans this weekend is the scale model of the new "Star Wars"-themed land set to open in 2019.

“To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement,” Chapek said. “All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.”

The new "Star Wars" land was announced at D23 in 2015 to the delight of fans everywhere. The new land will feature attractions like one that gives guests the chance to pilot the Millennium Falcon. The 14 acres land will be the largest single-themed land expansion in the park's history.

It's isn't just about "Star Wars" this weekend. Fans can expect to hear about Marvel's plans for Phase 4 as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 wrap the 22-movie arc that began with Iron Man in 2008.

Tributes to the 50th anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean ride are scheduled, as are appearances from celebrities like Mark Hamil, Stan Lee, and Oprah Winfrey.
